Bebe to debut? Scunthorp vs Manutd preview

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed Bebe will make his Manchester United debut in Wednesday's Carling Cup tie at Scunthorpe United.

Bebe's £7.4million arrival at Old Trafford last month was one of the biggest shocks of the transfer window, with Ferguson admitting he had never seen the 20-year-old play.

The move to United capped a meteoric rise in Bebe's career and he is now primed to make his first appearance for the Premier League giants.

Ferguson is keen to give several of his younger players a chance at Scunthorpe as United start their quest to win the Carling Cup for the third successive season.

Training well

"We played a lot of young players last season and they all acquitted themselves well," Ferguson told the club's official website. "We'll do the same at Scunthorpe.

"A lot of my young players will play. Bebe is training very well. He'll be involved tomorrow night. Federico Macheda will as well.

"The Carling Cup's served us well over the last few seasons - it allows me to keep everybody happy in terms of giving people games and we've reached the last two finals, which has its obvious advantages.

"Playing at Wembley and competing for medals on the big stage is terrific for players' development."

Meanwhile, Bebe is confident he can make an impact for United after making his first appearance for the reserves last week.

Bebe, who may start on the bench at Glanford Park, said: "I am going to be a brilliant player for United.

"Sir Alex is very happy with me and wants me to train more and get in the first team."

Interesting read, Id love to see this lad debut but I just have this gut feeling that if he fails, the media will unite to attack. So maybe a bench start won't be too bad. I hope Sir Alex fields the young guns, but we do need some experience out there so if Rio has recovered from the flu, he'll prob join Evans/Smalling in the center of defence while Id love to Wesley return to full fitness, so he can be used up in this match. Owen will most likely start, due to his lack of appearances this season, and maybe Ben Amos will show his potential tonight.

Its a bit of blunder 1st match, away from home against a lowly championship side, but we can't take them for granted because they will be fired up.

I predict a 3-1 scoreline to the reds, and here's my starting XI:

While Wazza hasn't yet discovered his golden touch just yet but Dimitar Berbatov is really pulling the strings.

So even though 1/2 our goals have came from our front line, the midfield is looking strong on the attack line, though they do need to pitch in defencivly. But all in all I think we should be satisfied with the "team effort" which is being contributed goal scoring wise.

What a match by Berbatov to silence his critics, against our hated most pathetic rivals he scores, not one but tres goals. A fucking hat trick against the dippers, why are we so blessed.

Last night he showed why's gods gift to United, and dare I say he is showing Eric Cantona in every bit of him. He marked his name firmly in United's History books as only 2nd player to score a hat trick against the dippers in our history.

And yet he was so humble and warming about, this is what our classy genius had to say & God Bless Him:

"It's a magical day, special for me of course because I scored a hat-trick and we won against our rivals Liverpool," dimi explained to MUTV.

"Everybody was happy in the dressing room after the game. I am happy too and I am going home with a smile on my face because we won a very important game.

"It is probably one of my best games for United but I don't want it to be my last so I will keep working and hopefully I will improve on the things I try to do. Today, everything was really happening for me. I give thanks to my team-mates who supplied me for the goals." "Honestly I didn't see the ball go in the net but when I hear the crowd screaming, then it was easy to guess what happened so it was a good goal. "This was going through my mind when it was 2-2 but we showed that we have a good spirit, a fighting spirit and we always fight to the end," said Berbatov.

This match is fixture, which is labelled the Biggest Football match in Britain, only a Rangers/Celtic match could come close due to the hatred, religious affiliations involved with it, but thats played too often.

But When Manchester United play Liverpool, when 36 League titles and 5 European Cups are presented in one football pitch than its too big.

Both clubs are the two most decorated football clubs in English History, but like Lady boy Torres this current crop of scouser's are distant memory of their former hero's in the 70/80's.

The game was billed to be a must win for both side, Kenny Daglish labelled that whoever shall falter will lose their title aspirations, but I don't agree it way to early for that, but it was more about getting the confidence out of being her hated rivals and kick starting a premier league campaign which has more stops than Rio'splaying on the field.

Fergie opted for the 442, with the ever bright Bulgarian being the one to turn to this season, after Rooney's off the field in-discretions. The lads started the match brightly with an all out attack, the dippers just watched as Paul Scholes and the Scotsman flecth bossed the midfield and actually providing our two strikers unlike our opposition.

Passes/crosses were wasted, so was the amount of goal scoring chances Nani had, but it took a thunderous header and lady boy defending from the man they call El NINO to break the deadlock, and great corner kick in from Giggs, let our top scorer Dimitar Berbatov smash in a header to make it 1-0. Mind you the scousers had both Konchesky and Reina in goal but still couldn't keep out the class that is Dimitar Berbatov.

1/2 time elapsed and you could say Fergie wouldbe satisfied, 1-0 up against your arch rivals isn't so bad.

Second half came along, the scousers tried and failed miserably to score and shut the bloody scouse supporters from constantly sing "youll never walk alone", well quite clearly Berba would have rathered to score alone, when a magnificent touch from Nani, enabled Berba to magically lead United into a 2 goal lead, he took the pass on the high kicked up and so magnificently implemented a backward bicycle kick to bury the dippers head even further. 2-0 up, game over we thought.. and how we thought wrong

United's defence United clicked the self destruct mode as they did @ Fullham, and quite convincingly against the other Merseyside establishment and have up a 2 goal via a Fernando Torres PC, and yes a Fernando Torres Free kick which Stevie 'love kissing OT Camera' Gerrard converted quite happily, though his mug shot face looking a contrast of his old self @ full time.

Dimitar Berbatov came up with the goods again. A Hattrick against the dippers that would surely absorb all the Berbaflop droplets that are out there, Johny O Shea made up for that free kick by kicking in a pinch point cross to Set up Berba to smash the ball @ the back of the Pepe Party Animal Reina's net. And OT went wild, Berbatov smiled and seemed to get heaps of slaps from his compatriots.

There was a still nervy 4 minutes, injury time, but the lads concentrated held out and secured an entertaining 3-2 victory of the dippers.

Overall a good performance by United, but our defensive Unite needs to be sorted out, quite soon.

Berba Impresses Dennis.

Dennis reckons Berba's impressive early season form is due to the arrival of our Mexican lad Chicharito.

United legend Denis Irwin believes Dimitar Berbatov’s fantastic early-season form could be due to the arrival of Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez.

"The signing of Chicharito has maybe given Berbatov that added pressure he might have needed," Denis said on MUTV. "Knowing there is a young hungry kid waiting to take his place might have helped to push him on."

Ex-defender Irwin is especially pleased by Berba answering the boss' call for more goals.

“We all know about Dimitar’s ability to create goals," added Denis. "He's a very talented player, but we needed him to score more goals. Getting a few on the pre-season tour of America will have boosted his confidence and that is definitely showing now. He has certainly started the season well, with two goals in the first three games."

Hmm Berba does look a little extra settled and has been inspiring in the last 4 matches. And lets hope it continues. Iv always been a massive fan of the Bulgarian, and goals aren't really an issue for me. As long as he contributes to the United cause than Im all good.

Vivaa Dimitar

Internationals clearly ruin my weekend.

So after a fantastic hammering of the hammers, United's form has been put to a halt that's to the ever so fruitless international weekend. Yes even though the Euro 2012 qualifiers require abit more stamina than the odd friendly, why on Earth would you have one at the start of the new season, when teams are just starting to click.

In my honest opinion there should be an allocated two week location during the season and they should do the group qualifiers in that period.

Anyway I bored to stuff this weekend. The Australian league of football - the A-League is still present but quite frankly a Sydney FC Vs Adelaide United fixture doesn't entice me.

So it's a nervous wait till next weekend when the reds face the toffee's and a nervous wait to see how many of our lads will make it fit and in perfect condition. Wayne Rooney was fantastic for the Poms against Bulgaria with literally 4 assists in the whole match, his work rate was high and he's shutting up some of those inglorious ingurland supporters. Our young lad Corry Evans had a good match for the Northern Irish and scored a great winner to seal it for them , Fletch captained the Scots to a 0 - 0 draw against the Lithuanians, Vida played his part in the 3-0 drubbing of the Faroe Islands and our ever so versatile John O Shea played his part in the ROI 1-0 over the Armenians.

So far so good, no injuries (touch wood) I think the players I'm most concerned about is Vida and Wazza. Vida has had a rock solid 1st three matches captaining in each match, while Wazza just recently found his scoring boots, so Im anticipating full fitness for the two ahead of the tough trip to the blue side of Merseyside .
